I am no expert on the subject, but I don't think it matters. Optics have to calibrated or zeroed after they are installed on a weapon. It's not possible to do this before to my limited knowledge. Unless this info you came across had to do with the amount of recoil the optic could handle, such as up to a 5.56/.223 round. If that is what was meant then the PS90 is fine, just no 50 cal. I haven't looked at the xps too much and don't know too much about it (as I have a eotech 511 for mine). It appears to be a mini-me version, so it should be no different than any other eotech. If these had been available, I might have gotten one 2 years ago as I like the idea of a 123 baterry versus the N ones.

Some of the Eotechs have ballistic drop compensated reticle calibrated for either 5.56 or 7.62 ammunition.

Not sure about the model you are refering to though.

I think he's asking what ammunition the Eotech's BDC reticle is calibrated to.

e.g. M855, SS109 and so on.

Personally, I would drop a line to L3 and I'm sure they can clear things up. Ballistically, the 5.7 is close to a 5.56 at short range, so I would guess that you would be close with a BDC reticle for the 5.56 to 200 yards.

I would just get the unit with a 4 moa dot and zero it for 50 yards and be done with it. I don't try to kid myself into thinking the PS is anything more (to me) than a short range gun with a lot of capacity.

But, that's me... Smile

Here is the link to EOTech's webpage for the model he is refering to.

http://www.eotech-inc.com/product.php?id=30&cat=2

On that page it doesn't specify any balistic compensation for the two dot reticle. I wonder if the second dot is adjustable seperately, but no further info on the page, about it.

The model number XPS2-2, the -2 is the reticle type it is supplied with, as seen below.

According to the manual for my XPS2-2:

load center 1st 0 center 2nd 0 2nd dot 0 bottom of circle
.223 62g 50 yards 200 yards 500 yards 7 yards
.44 Mag 25 yards 50 yards 165 yards
12 G 385g 25 yards 100 yards 250 yards
.50 BP 350g 25 yards 100 yards 250 yards

I just installed it on my PS90 and the weather has been much better for skiing than going to the range so I haven't actually sighted it in yet. Right now, I have it bore sighted at 7 yards at the bottom of the circle. Once it warms up a little, I'll run out to the range and sight it in correctly. I'll post my results. I'm thinking that I'll want the center dot at 50 yards and then determine where the other aiming points fall.

I have an XPS 3-2 and the second (lower) dot is not separately adjustable. Both dots are fixed and the sight as a whole is adjusted.

My center dot is zeroed at 100 yds. The lower dot is pretty well dead on at about 7-10 yards.

I just found this. An Eotech XPS2-2 calibrated for the 5.7X28?

I wonder if they had a special run made for them to use with the AR57, PS90, and P90.

Surprised

Ain't marketing great? I'm willing to bet that this is the standard XPS 3-2 (or 2-2) double dot reticle. I seriously doubt that EO would make a special run with different specs for such a limited market as AR57 / PS90 / P90 systems. From looking at their product literature, there's nothing about a platform specific double dot sight, only the -1, -2 and -3 variants of the XPS.

My XPS3-2 looks just like the one "specially calibrated". Smells like bull$hit to me. Nice try.

The only thing that looks different from the standard XPS2-2 on my PS90 right now is the shroud around it. Considering the fact that I'm thinking about an XPS2-2 for my AR57, I wouldn't mind having one that says AR57 on the side for that gun, but I'm not sure I want to pay extra for it.
