1911 slam pad???

Are you talking about the black thing just forward of the ejection port?

I asked the same thing when I say it, but noone replied. I thought it might be for a brass catcher attachment or it's just a padded area covering take down bolts or something. It can't be a brass deflector, it on the wrong side of the port. Also there is the exact same thing on the opposite side of the reciever.

That sure is a head scratcher.
