So, what do you guys like to use for 223 plinking loads? I'm thinking just 55 gr bullets (they seem to be very cheap). Just looking for a decent powder that meters well and makes for a reliable load that isn't Varget price.

i dont find varget to be that much more than the bottom four on my list. 8lbs on the bottom four should be $150-180.

i use wc844 for everything. I hit out to 400 using it and 55gr with no issues (steel plates 2moa and larger)

I use 24.5 grains H335 w/ 55 grain SPR SP, or a local 55 grain FMJ for plinking. I prefer the FMJs I am getting for reloading on my 550, as they are boat tails and its easier to set the bullet. H335 meters great and I buy it by the 8lb bottles, as I can go through a lot of powder quickly!

My 5.56 plinking loads are:

H335 26gr w/55gr FMJ
Win 748 26gr w/55gr FMJ
BL-C(2) 27gr w/55gr FMJ
TAC 25gr w/55gr FMJ
H335 27gr w/62gr FMJ
Win 748 27gr w/62gr FMJ

Some may be a tad bit over the max load, so start lower in your own loads.
