I have some ammo that is fmj that the overall length is between 1.569-1.590 is this within the range of being ok.

Absolutely although at 1.590 you may check fit in magazines. For the pistol and PS90 I load almost all mine to 1.580-1.585. I load longer for my Encore but it's a single shot.

really depends on the bullet length and shape. I think my defensive ammo is short too just due to that but I don't have any with me here in work to verify.
