Armalites(heavies) can be hit or miss, the DPMS rifles are actually getting a decent rep (and I thought I'd NEVER say that), the Knight SR-25 is an accurate piece but they aren't holding up well to hard use in Iraq or Afghanistan, and they're expensive.
The Noveske's are really nice, but also, really expensive.
The Rock Rivers are based on the Bushmaster .308, which never worked well either. FAL mags are not well suited for use outside of FAL's. The FAL receiver acts in conjunction with the mag as a feed device.
Do you want a free floated barrel DMR style rifle or a carbine, or what?
yeah free floated DMR. I was looking at the Armalites. The SR-25 is what got me looking but at around $4k thats too steep for me. What typically fails in these? Is the design not well suited for the cartridge pressures involved?
