I am contemplating getting one for my 17 if for nothing more that aesthetics. My question is, how much more perceived recoil is there as compared to the factory PWS? Is it worth doing?

I put the 51T MITER on my 17, searched a lot of threads to answer the same question you have.
Most of those threads/posts indicated minimal additional recoil.
It's hard to quantify but I would say 25-35%, I definitely can tell the difference.
If you are recoil sensitive leave the PWS on, it does an exceptional job IMO.
My neighbor has a 17 as well, it had been awhile since he shot his, when he initially shot mine he didn't think there was much difference, next time we were at the range he brought his, shot them back to back, he changed his opinion.

I just did a comparison yesterday, my black 17 has a AAC 51 miter, the FDE FN MB. There is a difference, I would say about 1/3 difference, neither are bad, but there is a difference. I don't like the blast of the MB or the look. Might just keep one of each on my 16s I swapped for AAC and FN EPC.
