Muzzle Brake

Okay this is my first attempt at a forum so please be gentle.
I talked the other day with a representative from Advanced Armament Co. about mounting my breakout 2.0 compensator to my scar 17s he assured me that I need to remove both the muzzle break and the lock nut and install it using the rocksett and tighten to 40-45 lbs. I didn't ask or hear if he said foot lbs or inch lbs. Please advise.

Well, this sucks... I had my barrel cut down and had a Brakeout 2.0 PAed to 16" months back. Now that my sdn6 has arrived I'm hesitant to attach it to the scar17...
SCAR 17 Muzzle Device Compatibility List

According to this list the "deep socket" isn't approved by AAC for the 17 so which is it? I'm also in the crowd of afraid to put my can on, I just got my 17 but don't know if my deep socket will work.
Bought the Brakeout 2.0, no issues, even though AAC then changed there mind and said it wasn't recommended for the SCAR 17. For warranty issues, I'd go with the regular flash hider mount w/o deep socket if I had to do it over. The silencer shop says the Brakeout is good to go, so I didn't change mine. Flash hider was on sale last I checked, but the Brakeout has worked fine for me.

Wrong. Read closer, their test was used for their shim kits or mounting against barrel shoulder. I own a sdn6 and use a 51t deep socket flash hider that was sent to me from AAC after contacting AAC about the 2.0 mounting issues on the scar 17. Both flash hiders will work as they posted on AAC Facebook a while ago. All flash hiders index on the muzzle and not the shoulder. The deep socket just looks better as it covers the normally exposed part of the threaded barrel. Yes I have tested and shot suppressed out of a 13"sbr with German dag ammo.

Ok, thanks just put o the deep socket FH and put the can on, looking down the chamber it appears to be aligned properly.
Ok I'm confused. Brakeout 2.0 yes or no? I'm less interested in flash hiders than I am brakes. Would AAC's other brakes work? Why would Silencer Co say it works?
God dammit walter.....
I cannot handle the back and forth...

ejecting!
FWIW, I put a AAC Brakeout 2.0 on my 17. No shims, just screwed it down on the barrel, used the AAC attachment tool and torqued it to the specs listed in the package. I have a foot-long or so concentricity tool in .308, so I attached my 7.62 Saker and checked it with the rod.

Took the rifle to the range last week and ran 60 rounds through it with no problem. Had almost no (within 1") POI shift at 100 yards and was ringing a 12"x12" steel plate set at 200m every shot with the can on.

Removed the Saker end cap yeasterday and inspected the internals with a bore light. No indications of any problems as far as baffle strikes or other malfarctions.

I think that if you install a Brakeout 2.0, don't overtorque it and check it for alignment you'll be fine. Mine worked well. Your can, your risk.

I never had issues with the Breakout 2.0 and the 17s but this thread did create doubt in my mind. I added a chamfered surefire spacer, installed backwards, and still run the BO 2.0 and SDN-6. No issues and less than .4 mil POI shift, so that improved as well. SDN-6 is THE can for the 17S.

Mine me has worked for me on the 16 and 17.. People are unnecessary anxious here.
Just how I did it but I really wanted to install the Brakeout, but based on all the info out there I went with the flash hider for my 17s...even the slightest bit of risk with the Brakeout was enough for me to go with the flash-hider
