Just curious anyone running or chrono Hornady 168gr Amax out of their 17s CQC 13" barrel? If so, what kind of velocity are you getting, how far have your reached out with it and how well is it grouping?

I can't answer your question specifically as I have never shot amax and I don't have a 13" barrel.

Theoretically though you should see best performance from a lighter mass round. It will have a higher velocity and tend to stabalize better in a shorter barrel with less revs of twist. But results may vary.

You loose 50fps +/- per inch loss of barrel
That's what im trying to figure out, I thought I remember reading it was coming out of a 13" barrel at 2,300FPSish but that was several years ago, different forum and I can no longer find that thread. I believe Hornady lists it at a smidge over 2,400FPS, I think cutting 3" off and only paying a 100FPS penalty is probably worth it.

If you live in S Fla we can just slap my Magnetospeed on it and measure it. takes the guess work out of it.

here is a graph from a TAG article where a guy started with a 26" barrel and cut it down and chronoed it as he went. not your platform but you get the idea.

I am confident that any 7.62x51 enhanced ammo you utilize w/the 13" 17 Scar - you will knock down just about anything you hit w/it stony ;)

I don't have data for the 168 Amax but I do have some data for other rounds with the 16" and 13" barrel here: http://fnforum.net/forums/fn-scar-17s/57431-scar-17-muzzle-velocity-info.html

With the 150-155 grains loads, my barrel lost ~52-58 FPS/inch going from 16" to 13".

The 168 Amax is a little bit hotter than the FGMM 168, so I would guess you are around 2340 FPS out of the 13" barrel depending on ambient conditions.
