Ammo

I have a new unfired SCAR 17S
I loaded the clip with 308 round nose ammo and inserted the clip and released the bolt to chamber a round, and the bullet would not feed to the chamber.
It actually flattened half of the lead round

nose tip back to the copper jacket.

Apparently I can't use this ammo?
Please let me know what you guys think.

I've never tried softpoints in my SCAR but I did have issues with polymer tipped 6.8 in an AR in the past. Have you tried hollow points and FMJ to see if they feed right?

You've seen to have answered your own question..
From what little I know...
Soft tip round nose rounds are not recommended in autoloaders.
Just curious.. How many grains are these puppies?
Heavy loads have a tendency to have a longer projectile profiles and outoloaders usually have a threshold on the OAL of ammunition to be used.

Soft point, round nose, lead tips are not for auto loaders or typically for magazines.....they were made for lever guns primarily and will work in bolt actions.

Gun seems to love offerings in the 168g projectile range. Alot of different options out there but agree with others that something with a FMJ, hollow point, or polymer tipped projectile would be more ideal.
