Hello All,

i just recently purchased a Weaver 4-20x50 (Model 800380) Tactical scope for my Scar 17s.
Firearm Gun Trigger Air gun Airsoft gun

I have it mounted with a Burris PEPR QD mount.

Optical instrument Monocular Photography Plant Telescope

So so after taking it out to the range today and putting ~40 rounds through it the reticle
has canted. As you can see from the pic above the external scope housing is still
aligned and is holding with integrity. However, the reticle inside has canted as the picture illustrates:

Has as anyone encountered this before? I suppose I will just return this to opticsplanet for a refund.
This is very disappointing.

Thanks in advance all.

Thanks a lot everyone for the feedback. It has been a very interesting journey in trying to find an optic for this rifle. I prefer variable zoom optics so that rules out the Acogs (Though the variable Acogs are interesting but they're not front focal plane). Also, I looked at the Elcans but there just doesn't seem to be price value to me in a $2k scope with a 1-4 magnification. I don't like the Leopold reticles that I've seen and the U.S. Optics are just to massive and bulky. This roughly leaves just a few quality scopes out there that I have seen. The Nightforce, Vortex, Swfa and Weavers. Unfortunately, the stores around here in Southern Kalifornia are limited or simply don't carry many scopes of those brands so it's tough finding optics to play with in hand before buying. Thus you're forced to buy online without handling the optic in advance. I thought I had something special with this Weaver. It really looks great and felt solid. I read the reviews and they were all great. Picked up the scope, mounted it, began the sighting process, and after the first box of ammo the reticle started to move. I thought I was seeing things (literally) but sure enough the reticle began to cant and once that happened I couldn't hit targets out at 100 yards let alone beyond. Initially I thought the scope began to rotate in the mount but sure enough the scope was held firmly in place by the Burris mount. Guys at the range looked at it too and had no ideas other than return it to the manuf. so I sent it back to opticsplanet today. Hopefully, they give me a full refund as this scope was defective (its rated to support .50 BMG) and I'll take those funds to get a Nightforce or Vortex 4-16 illuminated MRAD FFP.

thank you guys for you're support in this matter.

Update:

Hey All,

Sent the Weaver back to OpticsPlanet and decided on a Vortex PST 4-16 FFP. OP was great and adjusted my pricing due to the issues with the Weaver. Took it to the range today and sighted it in. It works Great! Smacking steel at 100 then 200 yards on day 0 was a good feeling.

Thanks All

:)
