I installed the VLTOR Improved SCAR Stock and this came out

Anyone know what this is? The new stock went on fine.

But I can't figure out where this goes or if it's important. Thanks in advance for the help.

That stock looks like a platform space boot.

I prefer how my VLTOR feels convex on my shoulder as opposed to OEM Scar "tail" that is and feels decidedly concave. I'm not really a tactical guy, I don't do tactical drills or run in shoot houses. But if I did, I can tell you that I can swing my Scar in any direction much easier with VLTOR tail design than the OEM tail. I also like having the additional VLTOR storage compartment. And they are within a few grams of each other, practically identical in weight. Actually if I recall correctly, the VLTOR is a few grams lighter. So you might have to cut one balloon loose if you run the VLTOR with my Mityno1 Litened Scar mod so that your Scar doesn't float away.

I'm going to take my chance here to steel the thread and ask ( since I didn't expand my armory to host a scar yet) why is the FDE scar has about 5 shades of earth color?

Does the VLTOR feel more solid when fully extended?

Also to cpt nemox, you've got to see it in person to appreciate it, but it really works out. The upper is more of a golden brown, near a faint metallic. The FDE could have easily been done with the same color, so I think that part was intentionally. It really breaks it up nicely.

No idea if the variations are intentional, but from some of the threads-from-the-past "discussing" the issue the differences annoy a lot of folks. Personally, I like it that way - hard to say why really.

I will make the observation that in a typical real world setting if you placed one of the "mutt" FDE SCARs a couple of hundred yards away right next to another one that is painted a perfectly uniform shade of FDE of your choice, the single-shade one will stick out like a sore thumb in comparison, visually. :icon_think:

I have to ask you wespac78 what are you running for an optic on your scar because I've been in the market for one and i have no clue what to get so I'm just trying to get other peoples opinions. i was leaning towards the Eotech exps 3-4 but i heard SCARS eat up Eotech. And beautiful weapon by the way

I have a Vortex Razor HD Gen 2 1-6x. What distances are you going to be shooting? And what is you budget? Those should be the first things to consider when buying an optic in my opinion. General rule of thumb is 1x magnification for every 100yds you'll be shooting. And thank you for the compliment. I'm getting ready to install a Midwest Ind extended rail and bipod as well. I can give you advice for optics just let me know.

It is solid when fully extended. I can't tell a difference in how much more solid the original stock is vs the VLTOR. I do like how the VLTOR shoulders better than the original stock. I also like how it is fatter, it gives a better purchase for my support hand to really pull the VLTOR into my shoulder pocket when I'm bench shooting.
