From the website - LOL:

The colored coating (not Black) is DuPont Teflon-S applied by Rocky Mountain Arms in Longmont Colorado and

"improves the function of the bipod"

in addition to improving the looks !

Curious how the coating improves the function of the bipod? I say rattle-can one yourself.

Teflon = Slippery, non stick.

Have you had a teflon coated pan, that you had to throw away because it started flaking off???

BTW if it is, you should throw away the pan, if you didn't know. Teflon is not good for your body, causes cancer.

The coating is applied over the anodized finish. Therefore you actually have more protection on the bipod. As SONYtec pointed out, it's a slick, protective coating. It's tough and stands up to daily cooking so a bipod should be good to go.

Lots of money for a bipod. The "Mercedes" of bipods. There are just as good for 1/3 less if not more. I just got a GGG XDS Tactical for $160 shipped. Was a great price as they normally sell for about $200. It's not FDE but from 1000 yards away, don't think they will notice the color....
