You can easily replace a battery without much cost. A tritium light source WILL eventually need replacing, usually losing its effective brightness in about 10+/- years then would require being sent back to the manufacturer for more money and less inconvenience than acquiring a battery.

While I'm not that worried about the receiving end of a nuke the idea it has an reticle that is etched into the glass is a big bonus. Just in case the battery or electronics go south It would still be a useful fixed scope.

I have a TA31 and am quite fond of it. I will say though, when you're in a dim room, the illumination , while still useful, is nowhere what it is say, outside. I had it at an indoor range last week and a battery option would have really made for better illumination.
