“Assault weapons are not about hunting, or even self-defense,” DeLauro said. “There is no reason on earth, other than to kill as many people as possible in as short a time as possible, that anyone needs a gun designed for a battlefield.”

Though DeLauro is in favor of stronger guns laws that would completely ban assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition, she emphasized this bill would not force gun owners to turn in their firearms. The legislation would provide up to $2,000 in tax credits for gun owners who voluntarily hand over assault weapons to their local police departments.

I can't even act suprised about this garbage any more.

this line should have read like this.

Though DeLauro is in favor of stronger guns laws that would completely ban weapons...

This is common \/ GG Gibberisih here. I'll bet she's glad her body guard has one.

Well, since the politicians consider basically anything an assault weapon, this could be beneficial with the $2,000 offer. If I turn in as many Hi-Point 9mm Carbines as I can find and end up with enough tax rebates to have the government fund me a Ballista.

EDIT: Well I guess it's a $2,000 max, so there goes HiPoint's sales.

I'm sure that every law abiding gang banger would happily take the tax deduction when filing on there tax forms as to how much meth an cocaine sold and gas stations robbed for the year.
You are correct the many local bad guys do not have taxable income or files income taxes as most local bad guys cannot afford anything but a Saturday night special.

This is a transparent attempt at politicians feeling better about themselves by attempting to control others, of course for your own good. Even though it would have little impact they can say to themselves they tried to make the world better.
