This is a good thing! This action will not affect officer safety (until another "Miami Shootout" or "North Hollywood" - or even a couple of guys with pressure cookers in Boston)

I have been working on developing an argument against the gun grabbers which goes something like this:

Supporter: So you believe in Gun Control?

Gun Grabber: Yes.

Supporter: Well do you think the military should have small arms and assault rifles?

Gun Grabber: Yes, of course.

Supporter: How about the Police?

Gun Grabber: Yes, of course.

Supporter: So we are talking about civilian disarmament?

Gun Grabber: Yes, we need to feel safe, protect our children, prevent gun violence and needless, tragic deaths.

Supporter: Assuming I agree with you and all citizens are disarmed, then we should take away all guns from the police as well. Guns are not needed by the police if everyone else is disarmed - like England or Australia.

Gun Grabber: But the Police will still need guns to protect themselves if they run into armed or dangerous criminals or madmen.

Supporter: So does everyone else. Not to mention the fact that civilian disarmament is more about government tyranny than crime control.

Well the only reason that I see why a Mayor would not want his law enforcement officers, who are trained constantly, to be given all the tools to make their jobs easier and a whole lot safer would be because he has criminal intentions.

After Boston law enforcement turned a whole city into a military dictatorship because of a couple of slavic suspected terrorists, demilitarization of their police force, even if it's just messing with what firearms they have at their disposal, sounds like a good idea. Then again what happens in the socialist paradise otherwise known as Massachusetts doesn't impact me in any way as I am luckily not a resident of the state
