Canadian looking for a FNAR-H or std FNAR

Hey, New to the site, finally decided on getting a FNAR-H as my first civi rifle. Been in the cdn army and deployed but never had a rifle civi side. anyway back to the FNAR, i have questions its the only reason I signed up for the forums. first off can I still get the FNAR with a heavy barrel imported to Canada? used or new i dont care. if not can the std still be gotten or is the whole line discontinued? the Heavy is still listed on the FN USA website thus my confusion. other questions, is their a accuracy different between the std 20 and the heavy? if so how much? how much if a difference in shooting IE recoil and jump? if so how much? the extra pound of weight is meaningless to me, I have humped SAWs around enough so it does not bother me. Breakdown complexity also does not bother me at all im sure ill be fine disassembled a lot of guns. My primary use for this weapon is target shooting and 2ndary is hunting. if your a dealer or exporter and can help me make this happen please msg me. if you are someone who can provide advice on my questions or point me to people or websites that can help me much appreciated.

TT21:

I see you referenced a "std 20" and a "heavy (presume you mean 20)" FNAR.

Despite the many references in the past to a heavy and std. 20" barrel FNAR, Im not 100% convinced there was ever two barrel profile variants of the 20" FNAR. To make matters more complicated, FN currently calls the 20" FNAR the "heavy" version and the 16" FNAR the "standard" version.

If anyone can post a side by side comparison or an older tech link for "heavy" info, that would be helpful.

At any rate, if there used to be a true heavy barrel profile FNAR, they would be out of production at this point. I sure some other users have some additional info.

Have fun.

PS: I have relatives in Ontario Province and visit regularly. Your gun laws are too different from USA to even know if you can possess the FNAR.

I have a 20" FNAR with a Heavy barrel. They used to all have 20" barrels and were offered in Light and Heavy barrel profiles. The Heavy adds a pound to the overall weight and the barrel tapers pretty dramatically from the receiver to the muzzle. A friend of mine has a 20" Light and the difference side-by side is quite noticeable. After the introduction of the 16" version, it seems that FN dropped the Heavy and Light options for the 20" models. Hope this helps.

Dude:

Can you post a good picture of your FNAR-H?

I will crop it together with a photo of my regular 20" FNAR (I believe) for a comparison photo in this thread.

Thanks
I don't have any pictures of my FNAR but I'll work on it. I did a web search for "FNAR Heavy vs Light" and came up with lots of pictures of each. Also, there was some discussion on this topic here on FN Forums a couple years ago. The links to those threads popped up during the same web search. Hope this helps.

Dude:

Thanks for the link to the photo and info. That was great. It is as others have explained, but the photo is nice to see.
