CMMG Faulty Adaptors for PS90 causes baffel strikes in Suppressors

4713 Views 27 Replies 16 Participants Last post by  shopsmart
CMMG has admitted that there is a problem with the recent batch of CMMG adapters for the PS90 short barrels that will cause a baffle strike if used with a suppressor. If no suppressor is used, there is no issue. CMMG will be replacing all the adapters that they have sold with the defects in approximately 6 weeks.

For those customers who recently purchased the Thread Adapter for the PS90 (Item # 57DA53A) that want to install a suppressor please DO NOT. There seems to be a slight misalignment of the threads that may lead to a baffle strike within your suppressor. If you only wish to use a flash hider or muzzle brake there should be no issue.

CMMG is currently working on replacement parts that should be available to ship in approximately 6 weeks or less (first part of February 2015).

CMMG will automatically ship you a replacement part when our stock is ready. You do not need to send back the thread adapter from your first shipment.

Please contact Kathie Stephenson at 1-660-248-2293 ext. 321 if you have any questions.

Thank you for your purchase. CMMG considers you a valuable customer and we look forward to getting this issue taken care of for you with ease and confidence in our product.

Stupid question; "If these adapters cause baffle strikes, should there be some accuracy issues too if used with a brake or flash hider only?"

It shouldnt its the threads cut on the outside that are misaligned.

I don't understand why CMMG can't get concentricity right...very frustrating

Baffle strikes I take it???
Oh yeah. I covered this in a thread up in the PS90 section or it got moved to here. I wasn't the OP though. The supressor has been beat to hell with my past fubar barrel, so no loss LOL. Suprisingly SS cans are tough and keeps on trucking.
It's great they are doing the right thing.

Excellent customer service speaks volumes about a company.

Better customer service would have been to get it right the first time.

I got one of their barrels and THIS adapter. Thank the stars that I did not put my Saker on the set up or else I would be one pissed camper right now.....

Speculative what is better customer service. Quality control was a big fail here. Could have been one person in charge of it and decided to quit or forget? Who knows. Someone's head rolled. As far as I am concerned with my dealings with companies with my barrel debacle. HTA, HDD are the top of ****ty company service. Then followed by a few others due to lack of communication. CMMG tops it with communication and working with customer. They right up front said they would pay for any repair work on the supressor, paid for shipping on ALL items I had, and kept me up to date. Been awhile since I actually had a company do this so I have to tip my hat.

Yup it was QC that should have caught that, and F'd up. It's customer service that's correcting the issue.
TROS to my knowledge has never had an issue with their adaptor.

Easy choice

If they pay to repair any damaged cans then they have excellent customer service.

I'm confused... /edited

I thought Mark from TROS told me there may be an alignment issue via email, but I just pm'ed him and found I was mistaken. My apologies.
I'm confused. I emailed them about suppressor use with their adaptor and they said don't.
Read post #1. :p

Who told you don't, CMMG or TROS?

Well, it's the end of Feb and I am still waiting for my new adapter......
Uhhh.... wait a second. You dont check alignment everytime you put something on the end of your barrel with a caliber sized rod or at least look down it for concentricity?
I just got a 15x1 to 5/8x24 adapter to run my octane hd on my g3 first thing I did was check alignment. Gonna test the octane hd on full bore 7.62x51 on my channel tomorrow or the next day so check it out there
I do, I'm paranoid about baffle strikes
