I was not sure which forum to put this in, but I figured more people had the PS90 so this would be the place to post.

I have looked at many different weapons over the past month or two and have been narrowing it down. I have been looking at the M4 style gun and just recently bull pup style carbines.

The list of guns on my list are:

Sig 556- Have heard mixed reviews on it but I like it alright
LMT-not sure which M4 setup, just heard they are an awesome, reliable company
PS90
FS2000
Robinson XCR- expensive, but I have heard a lot of good things. Dont know if the owners are trying to convince themselves that they just spent $1500 on something good or if they are really good guns.

The only guns that I have personally held were the Sig 556 and PS90. Before I bought something I would definitely want to shoot it

I am in the College Station area, and would be more than willing to buy a couple boxes of ammo etc. to try something out.

Thanks for any and all input.

Hi,

The first question you need to answer is what you are going to use it for? All those guns are good. For self protection on a budget, don't discount the AK systems. Battle proven firearms. For the price of a PS90, you could get two excellent M4 based rifles.

don't...

the Sig 556 is a travesty.
I don't know - the 2nd generation is better, and I have read many positive reviews.

I wanted one until I held it - and I didn't like the heavy weight on the forend - I didn't think it balanced that well.

Otherwise, I might get a 2nd gen one.

The gun will be for range fun and home defense. I was thinking, if I got the Five Seven and the PS90 I could buy the same ammo. Does the Five Seven have a lot of recoil? I guess I should give it a go too and see if I should look into getting one of those too, down the line.

I have a small review of mine here:

Recoil isn't bad. When we meet up in Nov, U can try my Five Seven as well...

Sounds good.

Is that good ammo to get? I probably will bring 100/150 rounds or so. I figured that would give me a good enough idea about the weapons.

I have heard Hornady makes good ammo. I am figuring this is more home defense ammo though. I am looking for more of range ammo though. I will check the PM again on what ammo you suggested.

If you are ordering the ammo online, get it cheaper from one of our dealers or members here. You have to pay tax with ordering from CT Dirt due to being in Texas. Or buy Shipwreck a big nice lunch and use his ammo!

Well, that is the 197 - it is what I keep in my Five Seven and PS90 for defense, AND it's also what I generally use to shoot.

But, like said above - U don't wanna buy from there - U have to pay sales tax (they are in TX too). And, U can find it cheaper than that. I'll PM U some places to buy from later this weekend. If I forget, remind me please...

amen to the addicted thing. I just bought my first gun, a Sig 226 9mm.

Since then I have been looking at all of the other classes of guns and flip flopping worse than John Kerry looking at all of the other guns out there to get. I generally end up wanting something very nice and high dollar, and now look at me. Looking at a carbine thats not even as long as my arm yet costs more than good AR....

While I don't collect guns, I have a lot of em. I guess I am starting to collect WW2 rifles. It is a different kind of fun when you can take a German 98K to the range to shoot at 300 yard targets with open sights.

Spoken by someone that has never shot one I assume.
true...

but i've shot a Sig550 and a Sig552.

basically the Sig556 rapes much of what i liked on both other guns, in the attempt to make it cool (and americanised)... sorry, but if i wanted a thing like that, i'll go with something original & unraped.

besides, there still are the quality control issues that came with the Sig556...
