hey guys,

recently installed a SEI Vortex flash hider on my scar 17. it's the .635 thread depth, per the suggestions from this thread http://fnforum.net/forums/scar-acce...rprises-vortex-should-i-use-my-scar-17-a.html

there's a little bit of thread still poking out the bottom. before i let this thing rip i want to make sure i'm not going to have any problems.

Also, one of the grooves or whatever they're called is pointing almost directly straight down. is that ok?

thanks in advance.

Looks correct to me. It should be torqued to 10 ft/lbs (if I remember correctly). I have the Vortex on my 16" barrel. I went with the .735, so mine comes down over the threads. The prong facing down shouldn't be an issue as the Vortex does not require timing.

thanks for the info. I didn't put a torque wrench to it, because it threaded on nice and smooth. turned to a definitive stop.

Looks good. Not much torque is needed. It will tighten itself from shooting.

Yeah, the Vortex is my favorite FH. I have them on several carbines.
