In trying to determine new toy barrel length, I was curious if the suppressor is equal to a barrel for loss/non loss of velocity.

Does a 7" barrel with a 7" suppressor produce the same results as a 14" unsuppressed barrel?

Does a 16" barrel now have the characteristics of a 22" barrel if 6" suppressor is added?

I realize no twist in seppressor, so accuracy is not the same as full barrel.

Thanks

Free bore boost, that's basically what your asking about.

Short answer No, not really.

From what I have read and even chronoed you only see a small if any increase in velocity. My results on the chrono has been under 20fps to nothing over several different rifles, calibers, and bullet weights. I fall on the side of it does not increase it enough to validate the idea. I have seen a suppressor increase the accuracy of a rifle and I have seen others decrease some rifles accuracy, that has to do more with how it aids or disrupts the barrels harmonics.
