Some help please...can someone please explain to me the horizontal hash marks on the elcan specterdr 1.5-6 7.62? I understand the adjustments are MOA but am confused as to if they are spaced out at a specific MOA? Newbie question but after searching the last couple days I figure you guys would be my best bet.

The width of the stadia line represents a 19” wide target (the approximate width of a man’s chest) at known stances as described in the manual.

Thanks Buckey. I Get the vertical stadia marks but was lost on the distance between the horizontal stadia marks. I hope I make sense.

I'm pretty curious myself as I've owned one for about a year now and have yet to find in writing anywhere exactly what they set the stadia lines at. It would make things MUCH easier when switching to different/new loads. I just emailed Armament.com and asked. Hopefully they'll respond... If they do I'll post up whatever they say.

From what I understand the horizontal lines represent neck to waist on a average man. When your lines match you will know the distance.

Elcan refers to this as the vertical subtention optical rangefinder (VSOR) the vertical distance for range estimation is 76 centimeters or 30 inches..... Per the manual. It is the average height of a mans torso

Thanks gents for the replies. Can anyone speak of the horizontal crosshair such as the pic? is the distance between each stadia mark 1moa, 2moa, etc? Is there any significance to these markings?

the manual only states that the center dot is 1.5moa at 6x and 6moa when at 1.5x. that being said when looking at the reticle through the actual optic it is clear that the center dot would easily fit between the marks with a little room to spare. For this reason I'm going to say that its 2moa, Definitely not 1 and definitely little more than 1.5 . yup 2moa center to center, final answer.

and here is another.. after zooming in and measurements its clear to me that the center dot will fit exactly 2 times between the marks.. my revised final answer is 3 moa

Haha I just noticed your revised answer. Perfect. I believe when I played with some distance measurements and went off 3moa it gave the most accurate height and distance.
