Signs reading “no guns permitted” have been displayed on the front doors to Toby Keith’s I Love this Bar & Grill,

The windows of restaurants and businesses are often crowded with signs and stickers denoting store hours and accepted credit cards, but a Leesburg restaurateur is looking to add one more decal in the name of constitutional rights.

Bryan Crosswhite has created 2amendment.org, an online database where gun-rights businesses can register their names and addresses and get stickers for their windows that signal they are friendly to legal gun owners who exercise their right to bear arms.

I've always assumed he was a completely fake douche nozzle. This doesn't absolutely confirm my assumption, but I'll take it.

What's the big deal? I wouldn't want people who are drinking alcohol in a public setting to be carrying a firearm. Who knows if they are stable after a few drinks...

Down here in FL it's illegal to CC in a bar unless there is a clear divider between the restaurant and the bar.

Toby Keith has the right to make whatever rules he wants at his establishment and the rest of us have the right to choose wether or not to spend money there. Also while I understand and agree with no carrying while you're drinking, I've always found it inconvenient that I have to disarm when I'm out as the DD.

Same here in OK.

Besides, If I'm eating in Bricktown, I'm gonna eat at Earl's BBQ or Mickey Mantle's.

In VA it's legal for a person to carry into a bar as long as they aren't drinking. The decision to prohibit fire arms on the premises is not based on VA law.

From what I understand, Keith has nothing to do with this restaurant, but the name. This place is owned by a franchisee who made the no gun rule.

If I lived near there, I wouldn't be interested in eating there whether they allowed guns or not. This owner has the right to put that sign up. And I and others have the right to choose not to eat there.

I suspect that his decision (Board members) regarding this issue has more to do with liability coverages and I suspect that we will see more of this.

It's really not as much of a 2nd Amendment issue as it is a corporate business decision and if any of us was sitting on a board it would be just as difficult. Just my .02 worth...

I see what you're saying and agree somewhat. Doing about 2 seconds worth of digging. It appears to me that Keith has ZERO to do with this restaurant franchise. He doesn't appear to even own anything. He just sells his name. It's all owned by some big restaurant conglomerate group/guy.

Toby Keith's New Restaurant Displays 'No Guns Permitted' Sign, Outrages Some Gun Fans

I suppose if Keith cared at all about gun rights he might say something or come out against this particular restaurant or the chains policy. But he's raking in the cash I bet from selling his name.

But it's a little comical that people are getting pissed at him. When the restaurant and decisions don't seem ( I COULD BE WRONG) to be made by him at all.

Honestly, this is private property, so they have a right to set the rules. Just like folks have the perogative not to eat there. This is simply a story that has much to do about nothing. It is only being made a big deal because a famous name is attached to it.

Agreed, and that's why I will never patronize a communist establishment.

Keith could very well make a public announcement on FB, twitter, his site, etc. stating this is NOT his position.

Standing by for Toby's statement...

Yep, private business sets the rules and I set mine, and when I see a no gun sign, no money spent there.

I drive by Tobys house almost daily, I think ill stop and pee on one of his fence posts.

I can vouch for insurance liability reasons. Owned and operated my own C store / deli for 13 years. Got to shopping around for cheaper property / liability. Heard that La Restaurant Assoc ( also tied to the National Restaurant Assoc ) had good rates so I gave them a call. They sent out a loss specialist to inspect my business. He noticed a " shortened " 12 guage pump behind the front counter that I had since my teens. I told him that if it was a problem I would remove it from the premises. He gave no indication one way or another. A few days later I received a letter saying we had been rejected with no reason given. Called their home office in Baton Rouge to see why we were turned down. Sure enough, they were afraid an employee would take it and use against someone. Once I explained I had offered to remove the shotty, they were then satisfied and issued the policy. So I can certainly understand these policies as dumb as they may be but not necessarily agree with.
