Some time ago I watched Hickok45 shoot the FN. He didn't give it raving reviews, but i was quite impressed when he placed multiple rounds clean thru an old steel pickup door. Not to ignite a caliber debate at all, but if you had a 45, a 9 and the 5.7 at your bedside, which one would you grab for a bump in the night noise investigation? I wouldn't hesitate to grab the 5.7 - especially with the capacity of the gun and it's apparent ability to penetrate objects behind which a bad guy might hide. Even more so when I get my suppressor.

I always thought it would be my VP9 - but now I think otherwise.

I would grab my FNX 45 Tactical FDE (you know, the more accurate one). Then again I only have 45 acp handguns. I do miss my 57 pistols. I had (2) and both had ext. mags and Jarvis threaded barrels.

I've thought of my 5.7 combo as my primary home defense system for a long time.....plenty of rounds IF needed. Low likelihood of over penetration. Easy to control in stressful situation. Good choice!

For the middle of the night bedside gun...without a doubt it is my .45 5" Kimber Warrior. Several feet away I have my 870.

For defense inside the home I prefer the Winchester Ranger T RA45T 230gr. JHP out of the Warror and for the 12ga. I use Winchester Supreme Elite Self Defense Ammunition 12 Gauge 2-3/4" 1/2 oz 00 Buckshot over 1 oz Slug Bonded PDX1
