I recently picked up an SLP MK I in a trade, the first gun I'd ever try from FN. I dealt away a Sig 556 for it, which I also got in a trade lol! It was great but I was ready to move on to something else and semi-auto shotguns were at the top of my list. I'm a relatively new shooter as I bought my first handgun, Glock 19 gen 4, almost a year ago in December. I say new since it's hard for me to count qualifying with the M16 once a year as any real experience with firearms. But since buying my first gun I got the fever as expected...my collection got up to 25 at one point lol! Before this year I would have never imagined that. But for someone pretty new I've been able to shoot and experience a nice variety so far, thanks to knowing people who have forgotten more than I'll probably ever know.

I say all that to give an idea of how I feel about the MK I considering I've had guns I've absolutely loved. Factors being how well I can shoot them, how they feel, ergonomics, reliability, etc., my favorites (not in any order) have been the Norinco SKS, Beretta 92F compact, CZ 75B, Sig P226, Henry H001 22LR, Ruger SR22, and Sig 1911 Desert. The Glock 19 served me well as it's what I learned to shoot with, got my CCW with, gave me the foundation I needed, etc. I realize many out there love their G19 and I respect that. But in my hands it doesn't hold a candle to the other 9mm's I mentioned. I'm not a hater or fanboy of any brand, I just like the ones that I can shoot well and put a smile on my face whenever I've shot them. Anyway back to the subject. Out of all those guns the MK I is now my favorite! I'm not going to give any kind of "expert" review, just going to say that this thing is AWESOME and everyone (except for criminals and the like) should get a chance to shoot one!

I have yet to shoot let alone handle anything else from FN though I've read and heard nothing but great things about them from people I trust. But the MK I will have me look into FN a lot more!

Thanks everyone, happy to be part of the FN family now. :)

If any of you get a chance to try the MK I then definitely do so, it is highly enjoyable to shoot. The first time I ever shot a shotgun was last month, a Mossberg 88 12 gauge. I shot just one box of 25 rounds with that and was simply worn out the rest of the day, not to mention my shoulder had taken a beating lol! I made sure to put a Limbsaver recoil pad on the 88 the next time I shot it and it was way more manageable. By contrast the MK I didn't need a recoil pad at all, it's a soft shooter all by itself. One other thing I learned about pumps vs semi-autos is that when shooting from the hip the MK I wouldn't feed. I guess that would be the equivalent of limp-wristing a handgun and I'd have to treat it like a pump by manually feeding it. But as long as I've shot it from my shoulder it's been flawless...my goodness it's so much fun to shoot lol! 100% reliability so far through 50 rds (if fired from the shoulder), and pretty easy to field strip for cleaning.

Looking forward to my next firearm from FN!
