Five Seven IOM reality check

Hi everyone, new to the group and have a couple of five sevens already. I have an opportunity to purchase a five seven IOM model with 3 10 round mags and 3 20 round for 1600.00. It does not have the letter but it is definitely an IOM with the rounded trigger guard. The condition is excellent with one owner and one box of rounds fired through it.

I like the fact that I can actually look at it locally before buying. Now I realize that the price might be a bit high- but this is the first one I have seen come up locally.

I need to know if I'm in the ballpark on this or if I should just "let it go". I don't really care about the letter, I know I will just sleep better if it is in my safe with my FDE and OD green. :)

Original box and the mags stated above, just no letter.

I appreciate the input!

Welcome, I bought mine for that price, I too have all 3 colors. I don't have a letter, I had seen the letter complete NIB ( almosts ) going for more than 16 hundo, more like 2k.

Are you looking for a IOM to collect or just shoot?

If I were looking for a IOM to collect, I would want it new in box with all paperwork/accesories.

If I wanted a 5.7 shooter, I would just get me a regular 5.7 and save $600.

Even the letters and stamped envelopes are collectors items. But they can be found.

Update: I bought it. No letter, but everything else was included. Looks brand new. I know I may have paid a bit on the high side. I usually like to have more time to research these but I have never seen one of them come up locally and I knew there was another buyer out there talking with him, I counted on him going low (I know him) so I went high. He sent me a message and said I can't believe you paid 1600, I said I can't believe you didn't.

Thanks for all the input, information, this was a great resource that I looked up early this morning. The last topic was two years old and I wanted to make sure nothing had changed dramatically.

Question on the letter. Did the letter match the gun via serial number? I wonder how many of those letters just got tossed?

No.

Some got tossed and some got mailed back to FN.

And some got sidelined by collectors.

Welcome to the forum. If you want it you may regret not buying it. At least that has been my experience..........Congrats on the purchase!
