I have just been recently accepted as a flight candidate for my National Guard unit and ship out to Fort Rucker in about three weeks. I was wondering if any members are former or current pilots who would share their experience with S.E.R.E and Dunker School. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I agree, congratulations regarding your acceptance! I obtained my private ticket and IFR rating during the mid-70's but since wish I had taken advantage of a military opportunity.

I wish you the best!

Dunker school is a breeze as long as you don't panic under water. Keep your reference points, stay calm, and you're good to go. As for SERE, they teach you what you need to know... Don't stress about it or over think it.

Both schools require mental toughness. Basically keep your wits and don't panic. Pay attention, the instructors are very good and they will teach you everything you need to know.

Good Luck and Congrats!
