I have the fn 5.7 handgun. I have only put maybe 100 rounds down rage with it. I keep it cleaned and lubed. I purchased new ammo today the ss198lf and it jams every shot. So I put the ss197lf in and had no problems. The 197 if 40gr and the 198is 27 gr. I'm not to sure why this is happening. It's not feed the 198 ammo into the barrel or it won't eject the cartridge . Any help guys??

I would try the ss195 which is 27 grain like the 198 except it's not loaded as hot. How tightly do loaded and spent brass fit in the chamber? It might need polished but let others chime in first before taking any action, other than trying the ss195

The newer guns are set up to work with the 40gr round. You would probably need to change the recoil spring.

I take the above meaning the older ones are not set up to handle the 40 gr!

Then you would take it wrong.

The recoil springs were changed a long time ago on the USG's to function better with the 40gr round.

I have a brand new MkII that has just shy of 400 rounds through it total. Been running 198 for about half of that and haven't had a single issue with any of the ammo I've ran. All FN ammo though 195,197,198.

Yeah SS198 should run great in any 5.7

OP probably just has a new gun that needs more time to break in. The SS198 is one of FN's hotter loads.

Both of mine will run SS197/198/AE, one is a USG and one is a MKII. However, my USG has been "taken over" by my wife. I have to remind her once in a while to lock her wrist a little tighter, otherwise she will get FTF. She is actually really good with that pistol, and loves shooting it!

Should but might not.

Around 2010 or 2011 FN changed the pistol.

The way to make sure it works with the high speed stuff is to have the LE model, they are geared towards the high speed rounds, SS198 is the LE duty/practice round. (For the Officers who are not issued/can't get SS190)
