I wouldn't go that far. I suspect that the SCAR was never intended for civilian sales and that FN hoped that they would be producing these rifles for militaries around the world including the US. When that did not happen, they took the least expensive route to modify them for civilian use and slapped a 'no suppressor use' mandate on it to get out of potential thousands and thousands of problem rifles. These guys aren't stupid and planned the maximum gain for minimum cost to the civilian market.

Why spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to re-design something on the rifle when all they had to do way say "no suppressor use for civilians" thus eliminating the gassing problem from their responsibility.

Follow the money......

And open themselves up to every compatible suppressor issue?

Fn says this model suppressor works. Abunch of rifle malfunction with the compatible suppressor.

Who is responsible? The suppressor manufacturer or the rifle manufacture who said that the suppressor was compatible with their rifle?

A can of worms I am sure FN would rather not deal with. It was much easier for them to say no suppressor use the open themselves up to potential hundreds if not thousands of problems.

Again, why spend thousands and thousands of dollars to redesign the rifle when all FN had to do was say "no suppressor use on civilian versions". Would it really make a difference if FN spent thousands and thousands for a new part that has only one gassing position?

I can hear it now......why does my SCAR not have a multiple position gas regulator like the SOCOM model?

The stock Brake has no compatible suppressor.

My stock SCARs work fine as is from the factory and I don't worry about the gassing regulator except to clean it, if necessary.
