tube magazine will only load 7 2-3/4 shells + 1 in the chamber--why isn't it able to load 8 in tube + 1 in the chamber? Anyone else have this happen?
Also..spring retainer broke, is there a replacement?

my guess is whatever brand ammo u r using is actually longer than the 2 3/4. mine loads 8+1 no problems.
let us know how she functions.

Same here. Are you sure they weren't 3"? The manual states mag capacity is 8 2 3/4 inch rounds or 7 3 inch

I have an 18" SLP and when I load 2 3/4" REO Royal 00 buckshot rounds I can only load 5 rounds in the magazine tube. Using Federal or Hornady I can load 6 rounds in the tube. The REO loads have a plastic cap sealing the round where Federal and Hornady use a star crimp.

Call Browning and order a few spring retainers from them.
