FNH's response to crack's in my PS 90 mag!Now Pictures added!

After 1 week I get an e-mail from FNH asking me to send a picture of the mag to them so they can see as to how to go from here on my Issue!
Only prob is my Photography skills are non-existant, I used to have probs with Polaroid instant cameras getting a good picture, well I will sent them 1 from my 15 yr. old flip-phone (if it still works) and tell them I don't have a Photo Studio and most likely the picture wont be good enough to show the probs and I will after that offer to exchange it!

I'm unfamiliar with your situation - care to offer cliff notes on the cracks/magazine issue?

I'm honestly a bit surprised they responded to an email. It must have been a new guy.

Ouote!

Hi James,

Thank you for supporting FN products.

Will you please send us a photo so we can better determine how to handle this matter.

Kind regards,
FNH USA Customer Service
Yeah I had a mag busy on me once. They wanted me to pay shipping to and from for them to look at it so count yourself lucky. I said the heck with it and just bought another one. Fn customer service is not the best ever not the worst I have seen though
When I had bought it back during the Panic days, it was $50. +10. ship!
There are tons of PS 90 mgs probs on web, seems they are not all that great!

OH Wait, I am sure many will say "A bad batch" yea a real bad one!
You should have called them. They would tell you to send it in. Now your going to take pictures, and send to them. They will then tell you to send it in.

Please post the photo's on the foum.

Pictures of Crack's in my PS 90 Mag!

Here they are, new mag loaded 2 yrs never fired! Crack next to 10 is 1 inch and goes down the side of mag body, the one in middle is 1 1/2 long and both go through entire top of body and each raised top of mag in the area of crack 1/8 inch and soon the ammo was going to pop out! I don't want to hear "just a bad batch" yeah a REALLY bad batch! LOL!

Enlarge (click) on the Pictures to see how bad they are!

Thats crazy. Must have been a bad batch .... LoL . Joking. :) Hope none of mine do that.
Don't store it loaded and you should be fine?????????????????
I've kept 3 50 round magazines fully loaded for over 4 years without issue! However, there is no such thing as a 100% quality contol ratio, so gear should be inspected regularly.

I have kept AK Mags stored fully loaded for 20+ yrs and no probs as well as other types, but these FNH mag's have me worried, since at the spot where cracks happ is the most stressed area of mag since it is exactly where the rounds are starting to be double-stacked since all rounds in front of this spot are single-stacked!

I did a search and these PS 90 mags have always had a bad rep for breaking/cracking and there are many of pictures on Net!
Can you post some pictures of the whole mag???

Both top and bottom, also one close up of the feed lip area???

Thanks.
well look at it this way. get a few new mags and have that for spare parts. always handy to have spare rollers, spring and the base plates. never know you may come across a reduced capacity mag cheap and you will need that internal base plate to convert.

As I had stated earlier I have probs with taking pictures and posting them, had to use somebody else's phone and even then had a ton of probs due to lighting getting the crack's to show properly, on the 1st picture when you enlarge it you can see how deep they really go!

As stated mag was never fired or used except for storing loaded and the spot where crack's happ is the spot where the ammo starts double-stacking!

If FNH wants more pictures or even this POS then I will be more than happy to do so or send it back right now I just don't feel up to it, I have seen pictures and read stories of these breaking by someone dropping them 3 feet from a table to the floor which had thick carpeting and they also broke but in different areas, but in general most probs are in the loading area!

The ammo is pushing up in this spot and that caused the crack's I had attempted to take a picture to show crack on side of mag but just could not get it to show decently just as on the pic one cant see the 2 bulges under the crack's!
The only other mags which should never be stored fully loaded but have 2 rounds left out are aluminum AR mags since on those the feed lips will expand under a full load after a short while but I thought FNH would never have any probs, but I was clearly wrong!

Thank You!

James
