I handled a fnp-9 and thought it felt great. If I got one it would be in 40. Are the frame the same or is the 40 larger? Thanks

I THINK the frame is the same size - the barrel and slide might be a bit taller - that should be all.

The frames are the same size externally. The only difference is the mag well is a little bit larger on the .40 due to the magazine being fatter to fit the 14 rounds in it.

What is the grip width, anyhow? I own an XD-9 4" and I don't know if I would be comfortable with something much wider than that.

The grip width checks out at about 1.165" on both the FNP9 and FNP40. But remember, they incorporate interchangeable backstraps to adjust to whatever is comfortable for the shooter.

On another note I checked the slide height as well. From just in front of the rear sight from top to bottom the slide measures in at .932" on the FNP9 and FNP40.
