I have used my FNP9 many times in USPSA competition. These are once a month, "just for fun", matches. I have also used my Hi-Power.

For these types of speed, running around, etc. competitions I prefer the FNP.

For calm target shooting I'm much better with th Hi-Power.

The last two times I went, I used my FNP45. Recoil and flip are very manageable, more so than the FNP9, imo.

Plus, in USPSA, you score higher with a 45 because it is a major caliber. :?

Honestly, I don't ever notice the heavy double action first shot. I guess I'm more concerned with a smooth draw and getting the sight picture, quickly.
