I agree with what 12131 said. Don't use cheap reloads in this gun. I just picked mine up and tried to put a few cheap range reload rounds down range. It kept stove piping round after round. So next I loaded it with 10 rounds of 185gn hp's. It ate them like candy. I am guessing since this is a service pistol the recoil spring is heavier for heavier loads like +p etc. Couple this with the heavy slide it needs a stonger load to cycle correctly. But this is a guess. Sunday i'm going to try some S&B 230gn FMJ. I hope it likes them.
On a side note with the HP's it ran like a swiss watch. The recoil was so light I forgot this is a 45 cal. :lol:
