Took my awesome FNS-40 to the range today, and have a problem that I hope someone here has had and fixed

At 20ft, my pistol is shooting about an inch low. Under normal circumstances I would adjust the sights, but there is no elevation on her.

I'm using a standard sight picture, covering the target with the front sight. Now, I was not using FMJ, but was using a lead shot that I found and got a great deal on...could this be the issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Lead could do it since it expands to the barrel more than an FMJ (causing more surface area, and thus more friction)...it just depends on the grain and the charge, really. I've noticed a lot of the heavier-grain value manufacturers go with the NATO STANAG weight projectile, but don't include the STANAG charge (which is essentially a +P) so what you actually wind up with is an underpowered round closer to sub-sonic than you would like it to be.

Run some 115gr WWB or the equivalent at the same distance. If it's on target, then it's the ammo.

I was shooting low too. Switched to 165g. Now it is consistently on target. Let us know your finding!

Well....Ran 100 rounds today, and changing to the 165 grain rounds did help, but not enough. And now I'm shooting low with my Sheild 9mm....so....I guess maybe I'm a little older than I like to admit, and maybe, just maybe, I need glasses (groan!!).....But I'm going to look for other reasons before I really get on board with that one!!!

Have ya'll checked to see if you're anticipating the recoil? No disrespect, I work on my basics often and my father is more than greatful to critique like the old rangemaster he is. lol

Worked with an RSO for about an hour...made some small changes but didn't seem to help consistantly...I'm going to wait until after next weeks range visit, and if I still have issues I'll get an eye exam.

I do have grip issues...not limp wristing, just not choking up all the way on the grip....going to get some grip sleeves to alleviate that.

Any other suggestions greatly appreciated.

Ordered Hogue grip sleeves for my pistols to see if it's in my grip...should be here by Friday, in time for next weekends range visit.
