Well I should get my new FNS 9mm Compact in on Monday and I just noticed something about the slide stop from pics. It looks as the slide stop is made to mainly lock the slide in an open position and not to release the slide back into firing position. I'm thinking this because the way it wraps itself down the frame and the serrations are slightly facing inward and there's no serrations on the top to release it. Is this right and is it recommended to just use the slingshot or over the top method to rack this slide?

Yes, FN recommends pulling back on the slide to release it. They call it a slide stop in the manual, but also say you can use it to release the slide. I just pull back on the slide of all my pistols as it's universal to them all as the slide stops/releases aren't all exactly in the same place

On my FNS 9c the slide stop release is tricky. Like Dan, I just pull back the slide. It takes too much time to punch that slide stop release and it is super small.
