Anyone have any experience or know anything about the guys and the work
at MK3 Firearms in Vegas? I checked out their site and read some reviews, but I am considering having the trigger on my new purchase cleaned up a little bit. I have read all the posts on here about folks opinions of having a trigger job done on this beauty, and I'm still considering it. Looking to see if any fellow FN fans have any input. Thank you in advance.

Just got mine back yesterday (dropped off in late July).

The trigger weight still remains the same in both DA and SA. The biggest change is there no longer is any sort of creep with SA. In SA mode, it's already stacked against the wall, you breathe, the hammer drops. Reset is slightly shorter, and DA is slightly smoother.

I took the gun apart and can't seem to see any polishing work going on. According to them, the factory geometry at the sear assembly does not change. So I have no idea what they did to get the SA to instantly stack on the wall.

Overall, it's all just total elimination of pretravel in SA. It is not lighter, or noticeably smoother over the stock trigger. It's a pricy upgrade for what it is at $320 labor and shipped ($60+ if you want $2000 of insurance via FedEx). Would I do it again? While nice, I don't think it adds much value to the pistol. Without knowing exactly the procedure of their trigger job it's really hard to justify dropping $300 on a trigger job that doesn't alter geometry or change pull weight.

Maybe a shorter hammer spring, further polishing, or a trip to a different gunsmith (like Bill Springfield or Robert Burke), might be worth it for less. Unfortunately with the FNX platform, upgrades are a real gamble, and seems to be a platform of diminishing returns. There's probably a good reason why a lot of FNs don't have the same aftermarket as SIG, HK, or Glock, so take this review with a grain of salt.

Funny that his video shows a marked improvement. Regardless of that, he's no longer doing this work in lieu of BHPs that for some reason are keeping him busy. While I shot the BHP well, it's trigger seems like a limiting factor. Now looks like a minor fortune to get work done that I may just wait to see what the Springfield, EAA and FN versions look and feel like compared to my Belgian version. Please let me know if a new smith comes up to work on the FNX 45, thank you!

I mean there's definitely improvement, but not $320+ of it. Because they never disclosed exactly what they do to the sear assembly, I can't quantify its true value to me. I hope some other gunsmith will step up to the plate. I know Bill Springfield still does action work on them but don't know anyone who used him.

I just got quoted $420 for the job. I was kind of shocked. Think I’m going to pass.

I mean I get that welding material on something like a trigger bow is very specialized, precise, and difficult, as well as tuning the firing pin block to compensate for the extra material is worth something, to me that alone doesn't constitute $420.

Looking at the sear assembly guts however, it doesn't really offer a lot of margin for error on polishing or removing a little material on the sear face.

Maybe it's just how FNs sear cage assemblies are designed that adds complexity and cost to a gunsmith to tinker on it, hence why you don't see many of them really play around with FNs.

I will note that with the MK3 Trigger job, the factory overtravel stop no longer does its job (since the trigger breaks a lot earlier). It could benefit from an overtravel screw like HK uses on their match trigger.

Yeah my FNX-45 is brand new and the trigger isn’t that bad I just wanted to get closer to the feeling of my Sig P229 or P226.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge about triggers because I don’t know anything much about then besides if I like how it feels when operating it or not. I just don’t see spending $420 plus shipping and insurance on that minimal amount of improvement. Im glad I found this thread because I was curious to others people’s opinions. Have a good night.
