Is the FNX-9 still in production? I've yet to see one in the wild here in GA (or in SC, for that matter).
I don't suppose there's ever been a "tactical" version as well...

I can't find them. I will have to go with a 509. I really liked the da/sa and the appearance.
Is still listed on the FN website under the FNX series pistol. There was never a factory FNX-9T. There are aftermarket threaded barrels available, and switching out the sights for something taller is not an issue, but there are no slides cut for optics from the factory. There were a few places doing it (PMM was at one point I believe), but was a pretty small market for the FNX-9 to begin with as the DA/SA is just not nearly as popular as striker fired, so very little aftermarket support.
As for current availability, there is at least one online retails that has several different color combinations listed in stock for $600-$650. Also several listed on the gun auction site as well.

I've got the FNX-45 but you would think they made one for when they tried to get the contract to the government back in the 2000's. But heres mine

The FNX45T is an AMAZING piece, and is my night stand HD of choice.
