I am thinking about buying a FNX 45 Tactical. Low round count. The seller emailed me some photos and this was one of the photos. Is this wear on the barrel normal? What causes it?

My own FNX-45T came factory new with the same marks on the barrel.

It seems to be the experience of others on the forum that this is how they come from the factory.

Normal. As you fire the pistol and the gun cycles the barrel tilts up and as the slide closes the barrel tilts back down. The slide must hit the barrel and it leaves marks here and there.

Fairly normal. Mine isn't as bad as what that looks in the photo, but it still has marks (as does my FNP-9, SIG P938 and even my 1911-although it's hard to tell since it is a stainless barrel). Pretty much any pistol where the barrel contacts the slide will show similar marks, although some are fitted better and don't show them as much or early on. There will be corresponding wear/polishing where the barrel goes through the hole in the slide. You'll also see a couple of shiny spots on top of the barrel hood.
