FNX tact frame warping and wear

5947 Views 34 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  flintlock
I looked at my frame the other day and noticed that there seems to be some significant polymer guide wear and the frame on the back side seems to be slightly warped. Do any of you guys see this kind of wear or warping. I am losing faith in FN pistols polymer quality pretty quickly

I have same dimples.....looks like you are putting the mag in at an angle and forcing it up (not sure as I'm not watching you). Does this affect the functionality now? From the picture it looks like a fair amount of repeated stress or attepted alteration to allow mags to drop freely have occured. You are the first owner of the firearm yes? If the polymer gets scuffed that easy even if quick mag changes were happening at a poor angle I would still be disappointed. It is a combat pistol no?
The complaints about holding the mag release down and the mag not dropping free are the residuals of having the ambi release where it is (not holding the button down is beyond an easy fix).
It looks like the wear in the pics on the mags are where they are first inserted into the magwell. I doubt any wear is coming during firing.
Any way you look at it, kinda disappointing. The polymer may just be a little soft on your mold. I think the fde polymer mold process could be a little softer than black when its done curing at the factory. I only work with paints but I can tell you there is a big difference in how they perform based on which color is used for which job. I can oly assume plastics in some regards to color would be similar. Sorry bro, I thought my lower polymer in fde felt a little squishy when I first got it. I have mostly all fde guns and was keeping the theme going but only other polymer is a SCAR17. I havent had any issues and I used my FNX45T as a pillow mate to protect my family. I trust it, but I'm also problem free thus far. Contact FN and see what they say....? Best of luck bud-

Ya my rails are free from damage too bud. But I have been pretty easy on it for the most part other than getting it soaked a few times while on my hip hunting. So I'm probably not a good measure for people that may use thiers in drills or rigorous training (rapid mag release/reloading). I feel your pain, I had to send back a Sig 3x's before it was superbly functioning. FN has taken good care of me both times I've contacted them. The service you get may be dependent on your purchase date. Let us know how it goes!.....I would call and speak with CS vs. just sending a message. Good luck!

They should have given you intructions on how to ship it. If you send the whole thing it will have to be 2 day shipping which will be rather expensive. Might check into shipping just the lower but check with them first. Hash it over with them I would say...gl
