Glock 21/Octane 45 issue

I mentioned this in my earlier range day post, but I wanted to address it specifically here. Today I took the Glock 21 Gen 4 and Octane 45 for their inaugural run. I pulled the trigger, it fired, cycled and then nothing. The trigger would not reset. There was no obvious malfunctions (FTE, FTF, etc.) I would then rack the slide, it ejected a live round, they I could fire one shot with the same results. I did this about for about five rounds. I then removed the can and ran five mags without issue (including the previously ejected live rounds).

I have the correct spring/piston. The barrel is aftermarket (Silencerco).

Any ideas?

EDIT: Ammo was AE 230gr FMJ

I would guess the anemic ae ammo is causing issues but weird that normally you have the flip problem issues without a can on (backpressure) I would try some high pressure ammo first to rule out the ammo then I would investigate thr barrel then the booster assembly

Did you do a search if there are any issues with gen 4 glocks? I'm all ears I got one when I got the vector but I got my threaded barrel from psa and I believe or hope it's factory barrel don't remember

Tons of probs with Gen 4 Glocks using cans, many say the gen 4 springs cant handle a can! But what do U expect? It's a Glock!

I run a glock 19 gen4 with a aac barrel and have only had minor issues but I run handloads

My first thought was "What did I f*** up?"

Next trip I'll take the FNX-45 and see what happens. It was a bit strange, but I had a good time anyways.

So what about the gen 4 seams to be the issue and is there something that can correct it?

Take it off and enjoy the wonderful music that unsupressed .45 ACP makes when you pull the trigger!

All kidding Aside, I never shot any Glocks suppressed so I don't even have a clue what is going wrong.
I wish I could be more help
knowing that taking off the can fixes the trigger reset issue, I say take the can off.

Yeah it ran like a charm without the Octane. Like I said, I'll try the FNX next trip and see if it works out. I originally got the can to mate with the Tactical. The threaded barrel for the Glock was an afterthought.

I have a gen 3 G19 with a Octane 45 equipped with a 9mm endcap and without. No issues cycling.

My G19 Gen4 runs like a top with storm lakes threaded barrel & Osprey 9 attached. I love the combo!

Could be your aftermarket barrel has fitment issues not apparant until you use the can.

Could be he should have run at least a box thru his brand new glock before he fired his very first shot suppresed!:lol:

There are a lot of things it could be. The connector could be dragging or it could be the reset spring. The problem could exist in the gun but the silencer makes it manifest itself earlier. Past that I'm at a loss.

Do a google search on gen 4 probs using a can, they are all over the place!

I ordered a few hundred more rounds and will head back to the range Thursday. I'll bring the FNX Tactical and the Glock. I'll run the Octane on the Tactical, confirm everything is fine there. Then I'll put a few more mags through the Glock and try it again. If it works...it works, if not I'll move on. It's really chump change on the Big Scale of Important Things.

There's a small part of me that's happy this happened, it was a good excuse to get back to the range. It also greases the wheels with my wife. I was like "Honey, I hate to do it, but I need more ammo. I swear it's for research purposes." Of course she noticed that I ordered a few hundred rounds of 5.7 ammo on top of the 45 ACP. I was caught off guard by that and fumbled my excuse.

Thanks for all the ideas. I'll let you know how it goes.

Oh yes thee interwebz where everyone is an expert... I have neither seen or heard of problems with Gen4s & suppressors, OP's is an isolated issue.

I can say that both my FNPs, the Tactical and USG with threaded barrel, run like a top with my Octane 45. It should run great on your FNX.
