He got a bolt action Savage Mark II last year, so I figured we'd get him into some semi-auto fun with the M&P 15-22. Most of the accessories are decent, so when he's of age to build his own AR he'll already have some good gear to transfer to it. I get to take it out on Saturday and see how he does with it.

Happy Birthday to your son.

I already have 2 AR15 for my grand kids, one is 8, the other 2. They will be in my safe for some time to come but when they come of age, who knows what they will be able to own.
That would be the coolest grandad gift in the world. That's some really good forward thinking on your behalf. I would have given anything thing to go shooting with my grandad but he passed away when I was very young. He was a WW2 vet and I know he would have enjoyed it.

Good on you op for getting your son into the sport.
