I keep hearing alot of Rod/Spring swapping. The spring cycles standard velocity and lighter weight rounds better then the TX22 that the spring is designed for. I worried you would be giving up compatibility by moving away from the stock FN Springs. If your only planning to run super hot ammo not a huge concern but it's also great to be able to use pretty much anything but sub-sonic rounds.

Anyone have experience with this?

After breaking it in it's running flawlessly, not picky with ammo. Wondering if upgrading has a trade off, I'm not having issues so it's one of those ain't broken don't fix it things for me at this point.

I had the typical problems with 2 of the 5 types of ammo I used at the first and second range session.
I installed the Apex guide rod and went to the range yesterday.
The 502’s ran flawlessly! All 5 types of ammo without a hiccup.
So, for me the stock spring and Apex guide rod is a good combo.
This is both for 502’s that we own. And a relatively inexpensive upgrade.
