H&K P30L Custom Slide Serrations Now w/ video

For those of you that are not on HKpro I started a thread last week sometime to tell everyone my plans to have custom serrations milled into the top of my P30L. A local guy who owns a machineshop ATEi gunsand has been doing some really good work with M&P's and Glocks. I asked Doug about the possibility of doing some work to the P30L and he was happy to.I dropped it off on monday and he sent me these preview pictures tonight.

This is what Doug is doing with the M&P's

.

Here is a video of it's application with Steve Fisher from MDFI and Magpul Dynamics.

I'll update as it progresses.

He does nice work on M&P's. A guy I shot with last year had his M&P done up by him and I believe he also stippled the grip for him as well.
This is awesome! I wish I could do this to my FNX! :?
You can, just send it to Doug at ATEiguns. He'll do it up right and honestly it's not that expensive even for the budget minded. I think of it this way, what is my families life worth and what do I need to cheat more? When I'm muddy, bloody or injured I want to be able to still you my weapon. This just raises the level of use. The FNX is similar to the P30's where it has a thin top from being milled out from the factory a lot to save weight. Doug from ATEi can still cut effective serrations in the top, albeit not as deep as the M&P or Glock.

Chris Costa runs Dougs work and Steve Fisher (Costas replacement) at Magpul Dynamics, the guy in the Video ^ is the one who came up with the idea for Doug to design.

Thanks, Wolvee! I just might do this! ...the only problem is having to part with my FNX while they work on it.
Yeah, I know that feeling. I was like a guy who left his kid at a kennel a few days after I dropped it off. lol
:-D "You're going to take good care of her, right? Right? I usually sing her a song every night before she goes into the safe. Can you make sure you do that???"

I like it and it's effective. It's not the DNA scraper the M&P's have but it's a lot better and it looks good to.

Looks good!

Do you know how much weight was shaved off?
No. It really doesn't feel like very much I'll weigh it tomorrow and see.
Looks good.

What about the USP and USPC line?
Looks good.

What about the USP and USPC line?

+1 :-o
He can do those as well. The USP's would actually be easier because the top is squared off, w/ a lot more material to work with. The P30 is really thin on top so he couldn't go as deep as we would have liked.

Hmmmm ... picturing my USP-C w/AAC Ti-Rant 45 and custom slide serrations! That would look HAWT!

seems nice, is it possible to have a side picture of the gun (not just the slide to get an idea of rendering )
I have to to say, when I saw those initial preview pics I was like "meh". But the finished product is pretty damn fantastic looking. I have two USPs and a M&P. You really have me thinking about going this route now.
How does this effect pulling the gun from a holster both exposed and deep carry?

Drool

It doesn't/hasn't affect the carry at all and I honestly couldn't imagine how it could.
I use Uncle Mike ITP soft holsters for cc. I was wondering if this would snag on it causing issues. I really like the idea!
It definitely wouldn't snag on that.
