Anyone know if FN is or is planning on making an HBAR version of the SCAR17S? If I understand MD law correctly, this might make my chances of ever getting to purchase one better. I did a search- no hits for this question on the forum yet, if I missed it somewhere would love to be directed there.

THANKS

You can still purchase a SCAR in MD.

From the MDSP website:

Weapon Selected: FN Scar;
Status: Not Banned
Justification: NOT REGULATED BY STATUTE
Date of Status: 10/1/2013
Comments: Depending on configuration as it has a folding stock. A flash suppressor or grenade launcher would make it banned.

You can have a folding stock, just not with the other "evil features".

If this is a semi-automatic centerfire rifle that can accept a detachable magazine, does it have any two of the following:
a folding stock;
a grenade launcher or flare launcher; or
a flash suppressor;

If so, then it is banned and may not be purchased, sold, or transferred.

Woah! Almost all the local dealers around me say its on the bad list! I am going to pass this along to them and see what they have to say about this. Thanks
Where are you located in MD? If around the Baltimore area I can recommend a few shops that have taken the time to fully understand FSA2013 and will be happy to help.

I live NRA a Ocean City, but am not opposed to a road trip if/when I'm ready to get one. Thanks for your recommendations.

:?: :p

If this isn't sure proof that the idiots who write these laws have no clue what they are doing and have no business writing any kind of regulations. What the hell does a flash hider or folding stock have to do with how "dangerous" a weapon is? A grenade launcher? Seriously! It's not like you can buy grenades off the shelf of the local gun hole. I would be upset but I am not suprised that being Maryland and all.

I got my SCAR 17 from a dealer on the Eastern Shore. He took out the Muzzle Brake to make it compliant. I'm not sure if was necessary to remove the muzzle break since the attached file document says that the muzzle brake does not act as a flash hider.

You can PM me and I'll give you my dealers info.

MD Gun Laws suck!
