Well, it has come time to plan out my next firearm purchase. I really want a handy 9mm carbine or sbr.

I've been pretty jazzed about the upcoming CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1. My plan was to get my greasy paws on it and submit a Form 1 the same day. But I'm sort of being swayed by the Tavor in 9mm. I figure the CZ will be in short supply when it comes out. Also, I still haven't seen any clear info on the availability of stocks. I figure with the cost of the gun, the stamp, engraving and stock...I'm closing in on the Tavor price tag. Plus, there's the bonus of not paying the $200 "permission slip" with the Tavor. Those things are starting to add up.

I figure either one will be compact (or at least fairly compact) and a nice host to one of the Octanes I have pending.

So any opinions either way?*

Flip side get 556 tavor and whenever you can add 9mm kit add it and best both worlds. To be honest though I was all into owning 9mm kit and changed my mind cause all these new 9mm carbines coming out. But this is also an option for you if you always wanted a tavor. Now if no interest in tavor 556 I would go with mpx or cz cause it's smaller

A while back I was going to to do just that...get the 5.56 Tavor and later the 9mm kit. But I'm honestly full up on 5.56 options. I don't really need another. But you're right about the size...the CZ would definitely win there. I am interested in the Sig, but want to hear feedback before dropping that kind of coin. I suppose that needs to apply to the CZ also...but it is much more attractive (price wise vs. the Sig).

Haven't seen much on the CZ, but with the Tavor, you can use the 9mm or the 5.56 as the mood strikes you....

Plus, 3 great designer colors to choose from in the Tavor....

Now if you could get your hands on the full A1 variant, that would be a no-brainer choice! :th_laughing:

Well, get the Tavor first, since it costs more. Then get the EVO. :?

The sig though I want one imho is over priced. I say if you want both get the tavor now because prices are about as low as they will get likely. Then save up for cz for when the prices settle.
This is pretty much what I'm thinking. The CZ will probably be over MSRP until supplies catch up. I agree on the Sig price...I'd really like to see that come down.

Really loving my Tavor. I bought the factory 9mm model. I really wan't sure I'd like it, and now I'm thinking about the 5.56 to go with it. I agree that it's a lot of gun for a 9mm, but that's part of the reason I like it. Compact, reliable, proven, and frankly feels really good. I haven't been this happy with a new platform in a while. If I were only getting one 9mm carbine, it would be Tavor all the way.

Not to sound like an A-hole, but like someone else said, buy both! I plan on getting the Evo, and the MPX. I see them as totally different animals to the Tavor. No conflict!

I can only speak from experience and I love my Tavor in 556! I've got the 9mm kit on order at my LGS and imagine I'll probably enjoy it, but I'm seriously loving the stock Tavor setup. I have to agree with the majority and recommend getting both. I figure by the time the CZ is REALLY available you will have had many fun months of shooting the Tavor. Over the years I've learned time and time again when a company says they will be shipping Q1 at SHOT SHOW that means Q4.

If (when?) I get the CZ it'll only be a pistol until my stamp is approved.

Well, both really seems to be the clear winner...as I guess it should be. Most likely I'll get the Tavor first...maybe next month. Then I can wait to hear more about the CZ...and let my wallet heal up. Thanks to all for responding. You fine folks make it easy to spend a buck.
