however, I also found an adapter that uses the "ACR" butstock. Here, it's an abomination but it's an option.

I actually like that stock and would order it right now if it did not interfere with the rear PMM QD mount.

Haven't broke a hinge plate yet. But I'm good for 2 pre ECP buttons, and 1 cheek riser. I bought a HANDL hinge to mate with my TD button. Metal on metal.

I'm going to go ahead and ask this does it sound like a well worn in 1911 aha or worse? Anyway I don't see how recoil alone made the crack. If the bolt carrier and or recoil is what damaged it the other parts on your scar would show some wear as well. Can you find anything else that is damaged?

The other side looks fine. And thank you nate, that was a serious question on the other thread. Maybe recoil did or it didn't. Maybe shooting suppressed did it. I dunno, I'm not a scientist. But I'd think that being the most high stress area with that thor hammer of a bolt carrier flying around in there. I suppose the old saying is true....you give a grunt a piece of equipment, and he'll find a way to break it.

Mine cracked in basically the same spot year before last.

Arrange a warranty return with FN (don't worry about it if you bought it used), and they will hopefully replace the stock for free like they did mine.

Just send the stock, not the whole rifle.

Sorry I knew it was I was just trying to make light of a dark situation aha I was never good at being a comedian. Also with your last sentence I would of suggest getting the handl latch but it to would not hold up either if that was the case. I can't agree more with the Thor's hammer part I saw a possibility of wear that it could of caused to the scar. Although isn't the saying "He who is worthy of lift this hammer, shall have the power of Thor" or something. Seems like you may have gotten little super soldier serum and reached a milestone in your scar system through hard use. It's pretty commendable I might add but it's also a definite hassle to go through. Keep us informed on what you decide on doing.

Yeah I thought so, I'd do the same. Seems less of a hassle oppose to sending it out and waiting for it to be replaced. The thing is does it completely eliminate that issue or just slow it down?

So, let me pick your head a minute then, how is the fitment of this part ? I actually got one in the cart but held off because it said "only tools needed is a hammer and punch" , is this just to install hinge pin or do you need to beat this part on to the receiver ? Any word when the alloy lock button will be available ?

^^^^While I won't knock HD's product since I don't have any experience with them, the turn-off for me is the use of incorrect assumptions as a matter-of-fact---ie. the bolt carrier does not under normal operation--smash into the hinge plate of the stock---it comes awe fully close!-but does not 'hammer it' as described. I'm not saying it can't contact it, nor am I saying it doesn't at all, but not under normal operation. The spring end and spring retaining plate DO press rearward on the hinge/stock plate as designed. But in simple terms the spring is damped by the carrier. Think about it if it were to 'slam' into the plate you'd feel a definite and discernible thud when you fire the rifle, not the smooth recoil exhibited by the SCAR. Trying to suggest that FN somehow 'overlooked' critical function on so many aspects of the rifle, to justify the NEED of aftermarket products, is a cheap-shot and just plain lame. If one likes their products, do whatever you like, it's still a FREE country--just can't stand marketing bull$hit-- it's like the ole high school rumor mill.

Agree, they do sell a little bit of fear. I do notice that while shooting suppressed that recoil is a bit sharper. So I could be getting more contact. I've got some friends that use scars professionally and the buttstock is the largest complaint. So I'll try this until the mk20 soba stock comes out.

I would be interested just because the polymer hinge and latch would be your weak spot on the stock, plus it may be beneficial for ware purposes with the alloy trigger module. I don't buy into the B.S. about it reducing recoil or the other claims other than the alloy hinge would be stronger than the polymer factory one.
