When at the range and asked to clear your guns and lock the bolt open, how do you do that?

If you drop the mag and cycle the bolt once, does the live chambered round feed off of the extractor into the ejection tube? Then you lock the bolt back?

Just exactly what you've said below.

Take the mag out.

Point the weapon downwards and cycle the charging handle 3 times.

Lock the bolt back and then flip up the toilet seat cover to inspect the chamber.

Insert the red L shaped tool into the chamber if it makes the range officer feel better...........................................DJ
