How much is SS192 worth these days? Please don't say "whatever someone is willing to pay". What's an average, not stupid price to buy in, and is it any better for self defense than the more commonly found rounds. Thank you.

SS198 is probably a bit easier to find and higher velocity IIRC.

SS192 may be a bit cheaper though.

U answered ur own question and I rather have new 198 than 11+ yr old 192, currently on GB 1 box is $75. another is $95. but seems to takers. Now new 190 is avg. $275-$300.

The 192 is the best round for long term storage.

As for price, I've been offered $85 a box for a case of my 192 and I said no.

My question is why was FN pressured to stop importing 192 if 198 is more powerful? BTW I paid $41.00 a box for 192 off gunbroker a few months back.

198 has lead free (limited shelf life) primers, 192 does not! Was considered "Cop Killer Type" ammo and many were wanting to ban it thus FNH shelved it!

Wrong Grasshopper. It's called 198LF for a reason, it's lead free, 192 is not.

Because by policy FN only sells the SS198 to MIL/LEO.

The 192 was stopped because of the uproar over the fact it could go through some kevlar vests. It was replaced by 195LF, same bullet, same powder, same speed, and same results on some vests.
