CHICO — Several elements of the Down Range Indoor Training Center are ready, so the north Chico business is open with free archery; firearm use will come later. Open to the public now is the 30-yard indoor archery range. Also available are archery equipment rentals and sales, plus gun and ammunition sales.
The range is at the former Moss Lumber warehouse at Garner Lane and Highway 99.
Using the archery range is free this week, according to partners Will Clark and Steve Dyke, both current Chico Police Department officers who spend their off-hours at the range.
In about five weeks, a major renovation project will start that includes the construction of a new archery range and the renovation of the current archery range into a 25-yard, 12-station firearms range.
The firearms range will allow for pistol, rifle and shotgun use.
