Specter TR 1/3/9 | Armament Technology

I am a little confused in as much as I thought it was introduced at the 2014 SHOT show so I had assumed there must be some out in use by now, but then it seems it was reintroduced at this past show, so there probably aren't any in the wild yet??? not sure. Anyway it looks like a great possible option for the SCAR 17 to take full advantage of the platform's potential. The price is higher than the SCAR itself, but I know there are those out there that believe in putting as much in the optics as the rifle. I know the Elcan 1.5-6 is popular here on the forum. So is this the next great optic to hit the market, an overpriced dud, or somewhere in between?

So no Elcan fans here have the least bit of excitement for this scope? A true 1x-9x seems perfect for the SCAR 17. No need for a add on red dot or offset irons for CQB.

I'd love one of these for all the reasons you say. I'm an ELCAN fan; Raytheon puts out a quality product. I own 2, 1.5x6 units. 1 in 5.56 & 1 in 7.62; I love both on the Scar. Would love to try the 1/3/9 in the 17! I never got around to calling Ken at Kerif and asking but you should if your interested.

Not sure yet if I know enough to be interested yet. I am not familiar with this Ken at Kerif you refer to.

Found him. Google is a wonderful thing.

Why 3x, I would think they would have gone 1-4-9x.
Big fear I'd have is big price tag.
I've gotten to where I like the MK6 1-6 I have and while I'd like the MK8 1.1-8 the price keeps me from needing the extra 2x right now.

It's a heavy optic. I thought they had killed it originally, but I guess they decided to bring it back.

I'd personally go for a MK6 like Tal, maybe toss a throw lever on it.

I think it's a pretty cool option, I'm still trying to get my hands on a 1.5x6 though at a decent price. I wouldn't mind a used one either but would have to part with my Uso to do so. Elcans prices are up there with some of the top dogs in optics too.

I posted in another thread that Daniel the Raytheon product manager stated in an email reply to me that the Tri will be available in May most likely. He also said that true 1-6x will not be coming to civilians. I have more on that, but...you know. I couldn't wait any longer. I got the 1.5-6x from Mike at CSTactical. Cool dude, and has great knowledge on optics. If you want answers, he may be of service!
